THREE OF FAMILY DIE IN ACCIDENT
A coffee curing works manager and two of his family members
died in a road acident near Hassan day before yesterday. Mr.Ramakrishna, working as a manager in a coffee curing
works at Kushalnagar was travelling in a car along with his wife Nagaratna and
a relative towards Arasukere Railway station. The car collided with a lorry and
all the three died on the spot, while the driver is admitted to hospital with
fatal injuries. SPECIAL OFFICER TO REVIEW RAIN DAMAGE
The revenue minister Mr.M.P.Prakash has assured to appoint a
special officer to asses the damage caused due to heavy rainfall in Kodagu. He
was answering the questions put forth by the MLAs of Kodagu Mr.K.G.Bopaiah and
Mr.Basavaraju yesterday in the assembly. The district has incurred a loss of 4.6 crores during the
last one week with loss of houses, crops, bridges and roads. While schools and
colleges are closed till Sunday, temporary shelters are opened for the homeless
at Madikeri and Siddapur. A Qualis car belonging to Kolar drowned near Murnad, 20 KMs
from here yesterday. The driver lost control in a bridge and nose dived into an
over flowing river. However four inmates of the vehicle escaped unhurt. The incessant rain and irratic power supply has hit many
towns in the district. While thieves are making the best use of it! Chains of
shops are being thieved in Madikeri since three days. Attempts were made to break
the huge locks in main roads where police are supposed to keep vigil. The shop
owners have condemned the police who are failing to control the chain of thefts
being reported here. JDS HOLDS SECRET MEETING
A faction of state JDs leaders led by Mr.Kumar Swamy held a
secret meeting in an estate in South Kodagu to discuss about the expansion of
cabinet. Reliable sources said that
MLA Mr.H.D.Kumarswamy, MLAs Mr.G.T.Devegowda, Mr.Puttraju,
Mr,Cheluvaraya SwamyMr.K.Venktesh, Mr.Manchalli Mahadev, MP MR.Sreekante Gowda,
former minister Mr.Ramesh and few others took part in the night long meeting.
The leaders stayed in the house of Mr.Subramani, state general secretary of
JDs. Mr.Subramani agreed that the meeting was held at his house. PHOTO NEWS
