MORE SLUSH MORE FUN

Playing games and sports in slush rich paddy fields is a traditional game people of Kodagu admire most. Today was one such day where men and women, children and others derived maximum fun playing in slush.

The Chief executive officer of Zilla Panchayath Mr.Budihal appreciated the spirit of people who dared the rain to take part in the games, in his inaugural speeach. Mr.Budihal blew the whistle, standing in the field with knee high slush to kick start the event.

The state level Nativota sports was co sponsored by the Youth hostels association and district Youth service department. The day long events held in the fields of Mr.C.B.Devaiah was watched by hundreds of sports lovers .

MLC Mr.Arun Machaiah and MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah distributed prizes to the winners. President of the Youth Hostels association, Mr.C.B.Devaiah presided over the meet.

BID TO ROB BANK

Dacoits made attempts to rob the branch of Vijaya Bank at Nagarur at Somwarpet, yesterday night.

The dacoits made holes in two places in the wall to gain entry and broke into the strong room. However they failed to open the locker, even after damaging it. Ransaking the files and other documents, they returned empty handed. Police conducted mahazar and pressed dog squad into service. Investigation is on.
