RAIN DAMAGES BROUGHT TO THE  NOTICE OF INCHARGE SECRETARY

 

Claim for sanctioning  more amount towards the rain relief in Kodagu  occupied  the major portion in the discussions held at old Assembly.Hall Madikeri. The State Revenue Secretary and the Kodagu District Incharge Secretary Smt. M.V.Jasjaynthi.who is the previous Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu District also, conducted a special review meeting here.

 

Mr. K.G.Boppaiah, the Madikeri M.L.A, Mr. Basavaraju, the Virajpet M.L.A and Mr.. Arun Machaiah, the M.,L.,C and Smt. Chitra Ramesh, the Kodagu Z.P.President have raised the issue in the meeting. They explained the loss due to rain is estimated at more than Rs. 25  Crores . Responding to the plea made by the representatives Smt. Jayanthi clarified saying already Rs. 1.50 crore available in the Deputy Commissioners’ rain relief fund , which will be immediately utilized. Further relief will be provided after proper report from the district administration she added.

 

The Revenue officers who present in the meeting explained the total damages in the district. According to the report total 275 houses are damaged. Out of this 33 are completely collapsed. The estimated loss is Rs. 3.96 lakhs.. Other than this  112 houses constructed under Ashraya, Navagrama schemes  completely collapsed and 2062 houses partially damaged.. Smt. jayanthi has instructed the District administration to distribute the compensation within seven days. The heavy rain has damaged 763 hectares of agricultural land, Rs. 160 lakh compensation should be given-said the District Agricultural Officer. Responding to this the Incharge Secretary instructed the officers to give immediate compensation and to help the farmers by distributing paddy seeds and other necessary materials.. Out of 2500 K.ms road under the Zilla Panchayath maintenance 456 Kms are affected due to heavy rain. Rs. 9.31 crore damage is estimated. The PWD  maintaining 1317 K.Ms Road in the district. 527 K.Ms of PWD maintained road is affected causing Rs,. 9 crore loss. The incharge secretary directed the concerned officers to send a detail proposal regarding. 1115 electric poles  are destroyed due to rain so for. 39 transformers are burnt. Other departments like Education are affected with the loss of 13 lakhs, small irrigation with 4.53 crores, according to the damage report which are discussed in the meeting.
