CM TO LOOK INTO NANAIAH’S DEMAND

 

Chief minister Mr.Dharam Singh has assured the former minister Mr.M.C.Nanaiah that he will look into the issue of government claiming the right over Jamma lands in Kodagu. Mr.M.C.Nanaiah told that he had apprised the CM of the hurdles if the government claims right over the Jamma lands.

 

Mr.Nanaiah also urged to transfer the conservator of forests Mr.Venkata Subaiah on whose recommendation the new claim was made. He also complained to the CM that the district administration has failed utterly in handling the flood situation and did not release any relief amount to the victims. He informed that the DC had 1.5 crore rain relief fund in his hand and did not use his office to make use of it. He demanded more funds should be released to the district as rain relief as it has incurred huge losses.

 

According to a source, the CM has questioned the secretariat as to why they did not consult him before passing orders regarding the Jamma land. He has instructed them to reverse it with the immediate effect. It is also said that the Deputy Commissioner and the Head Quarters Assistant might be shifted from the district.

 

 

COFFEE REVIVAL PACKAGE READY

 

The chairman of the UPASI Mr.B.B.Medaiah has said that the central government would implement Special Coffee Package scheme any time.

 

He has said in a statement that the Commerce and Industrial minister Mr.Kamal Nath  has  assured to a delegation to  evolve specific programme to rescue and stabilise the industry. The senior Commerce Ministry officials have confirmed that that the package was almost ready pending confirmation.The basic elements with respect to Special coffee package will include amounts to be allocated for subsidising the accumulated interest on term loan, Fund allocations for stabilising  the indusry through  re planting etc.,implementation of a buy and cell option scheme  for small, medium and large growers together. Meanwhile he said that the ministry has also assured to formulate a special scheme for tea industry in the lines of coffee.

 

Mr.Medaiah said that the delegation of UPASI included its vice chairman, Mr.Anil Bhandary,chairman, tea committee, D.P.Maheshwari, Secretary General Mr.Ullas Menon and others.
