THEFTS ON THE INCREASE IN THE DISTRICT

 

Thefts are on the increase in many parts of the district since a month. Miscreants broke into two workshops and made away with iron bars and pieces worth rupees 32 thousand at Madikeri day before yesterday. However police arrested a person and seized a jeep in connection with this yesterday.

 

While the arrested is named as Hamsa, two more accused Rahim and Ali of Madikeri escaped.

 

 

RAPID ACTION FORCE IN KODAGU

 

The Rapid Action Force led by Mr.K.N.Aiyer has landed in the district for a ten day demonstration.

 

Mr.Aiyer told this correspondent that they will demonstrate mock actions in sensitive areas to bring awareness among people and police forces about the security actions. Around 75 RAF personnel including women demonstrated at Nelli Hudikeri school grounds yesterday.

 

 

ARREST TOWRDS MURDER

 

Police in a swift action arrested one more person in connection with the murder of one Babu on 17th near Ponnampet by his daughter.

 

While the first accused Dharmavathi had accused molestation attempt by her father Babu led her to kill him, preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the property dispute between the brother and the deceased is said to be the reason for it. According to police Dharmavathi was being visited by one Chikkanna . Her father Babu was raising objection to it. On the day of the murder Chikkanna and a brother of the deceased Dasa held him and while Dharmavathi attacked him with a bill hook.

 

Police yesterday arrested brother Dasa while Chikkanna is at large. Dharmavathi had surrendered to police on the day of the murder. Investigation is on.
