NAAC COMMITTEE VISITS DISTRICT
The National Assessment and Accreditation committee has
arrived in the district to inspect colleges recognised by Iniversities. The NAAC led by Professor P.K.Rajan consists of three other
members Prof.Aroon Krishna Rao Heblikar, Prof.Sumitra and Dr.M.S.Sham Sunder.
The committee was given trditional welcome at F.M.K.M.C. College Madikeri led
by its principal Dr.Pushpa Kuttanna, yesterday. The members visited all the
departments and verified the records of the college. All the colleges in the
district, above first grade would be visited by them. The NAAC commissioned by UGC, University Grants Commission
in Bangalore during 1994 grants accreditation to colleges under different
grades like A,B,C. The colleges would receive funds, materials and opening for
higher education depending upon their grades. EXCHEQUER BEGETS 1.13 CRORE MORE FROM DISTRICT EXCISE
The government exchequer will earn Rs.1,13,56,788 more per
month from Auction of excise contract in the district. Excise auction held for 2004 – 5 proved to be a boon for the government while the contractors from
the district lost their bid. Virajpet having 175 outlets went for Rs.1,52,82,00.
144 shops of Somwarpet went for Rs.90 lakhs and 113 shops in Madikeri fetched
54 lakhs. Virajpet fetched 70% more than last year, while Madikeri earned 48% more. Somwarpet fetched 51% more. The auction was held at Bangalore on this 20th. Around 51 bidders took part in it. The Madikeri and Virajpet auctions were won by G.R.Yogishwar of Tumkur. Somwarpet was taken by Mohamed Siddiq of Bangalore. |
