KUSHALNAGAR TENSE; PROHIBITORY ORDER
Kushalnagar turned tense since yesterday night and
prohibitory order under section 144 is imposed. Violence broke at night as a taluk panchayath member; Mavoji
Ganesh belonging to congress opened fire at the district convenor of Bhajranga
dal around 8.30.p.m. Dinesh of Bajrangadal was manhandled by Ganesh and his
friends who chased him in a TATA Sumo and opened fire from a revolver. Dinesh
was hit on thighs and hand. He was shifted to Mysore at night after first aid
at Kushalnagar. Police gave a hot chase
to the Sumo which disappeared from sight at Sunticoppa after the incident. A vilent mob later stoned hospital, houses and dozens of
vehicles parked on either sides of the main road at night. Houses of congress
leaders were also stoned. The district youth congress president Mr.B.G.Arun
Kumar whose house was stoned, stood on
his house roof with a gun in hand to protect himself throughout the night . BJP MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah, former MLA Appachu Ranjan and other leaders rushed to Kushalnagar and sat in protest before the police station. SP Mr.Devjyothi Ray arrived at the spot around midnight and spoke to the protestors who demanded immediate arrest of the accused. They withdrew after his assurance. However Kushalnagar is observing a bandh today. |
