HOSTEL INMATES FORCED TO FAST

In an irresponsible and inhuman act by the staff and social welfare department More than sixty students of a hostel were forced to remain on empty stomach for two days. The reason? Shortage of gas cylinders! The fact; the supplied cylinders were missing along with the cook and staff.

This incident was reported from the Sc St hostel at Somwarpet.

The cook and the hostel warden here failed to turn up for two days leaving the inmates high and dry. Also  there was no gas cylinder in the hostel. The inmates went and complained to the Mandal Panchayath president. The ruthless elected representative ignored their plea. A family living beside the hostel took pity and cooked food in their house and served the starving children.

People complain that the Social Welfare department  functions in a highly irresponsible way and ignore the interest of the students and fails to initiate action against its erring staff.
