ATTEMPT TO MURDER PANCHAYATH MEMBER
A group of three attempted to kill a panchayath member
at Gonicoppal yesterday, who is now
undergoing treatment. K.P.Abdul Jaleel, who was taking bath inside the, Hamam,
attached to a Masjid was brutally
attacked with knives and bill hooks. He was attacked from the half door which
allows top and bottom view. Jaleel fell in a pool of blood with deep cuts
around head, waist and feet. Gonicoppa police arrested one of the accused
Khalid today and are looking for the other two, Philipose Mathew and Suresh. Old
enmity is said to be the cause for the attack. Case was booked under section
307. PUBLIC PROTEST AGAINST MALDARE BANK
Residents of Maldare and its adjoining villages statged a
protest against Maldare grain bank and alleged that funds released in the name
of beneficiaries was misused. It was alleged that rupees twenty thousand released to about
49 beneficiaries under Safai Karmachari scheme was misused by the bank with
full understanding of the president and members. A complaint in this regard was
lodged with the state Lokayukta for investigation. Representatives of the DSS
in the state have also submitted complaints to the Deputy Chief minister
Mr.Siddaramaih for immediate action, yesterday. Meanwhile the president of the bank, Mr.Cheranda Nanda
Subiah has said that the money sanctioned to some of the beneficiaries was
adjusted to their loan account. TIBETAN RELATIONSHIP WITH CHINA IMPROVING
The relationship with China is improving, according to
Lothsang Nandoc, MP, Tibetan internal government. Mr.Lothsang was addressing a gathering at Bylakuppe
rehabilitation centre, yesterday on the occasion of 69th birth day celebrartion
of Spiritual leader Dalai Lama. Continuing he said that around six million
Tibetans pin their hope of getting freedom through his holiness Dalai Lama. MP,
Kuntah Mobu presided over the function. Function was organised by Indo Tibet
friendship society and and internal govt of Tibet in exile. |
