DIES IN ACCIDENT

One person died and four others sustained injuries as a Maruthi van went berserk, hitting people and autorikshaws on the road at Madikeri, yesterday.

One Nagaraj , who sustaining head injuries died today in a hospital at Mangalore. One Mohammed, driving the Maruthi van lost control and bashed against three persons sitting on the side walls of a bridge in a busy area her. The three persons fell into the sewage water flowing below. One person injured his spine. Taking a swift turn, the van rammed against two autorikshaws and nosedived into drainage. The drivers of the van and auto sustained injuries. Seriously injured Nagaraj was immediately shifted to Mangalore. A case was booked against the driver, who is also hospitalised.

FACELIFT FOR FOOT BRIDGE

The Virajpet taluk panchayath president Mr.V.A.Venktesh visited Naatkund village where a foot bridge has collapsed and assured to release rupees thirty thousand for rebuilding the bridge. The foot bridge was the only link for the villagers of Naatkund who was isolated since third of this month. The bridge collapsed due to heavy rains.

STUDENTS GO ON STRIKE

The students of Cauvery college Gonicoppal boycotted classes demanding reduction of fee. The two day protest was called back after the college administration sought fifteen days time to settle the issue.
