BURGLERY IN DISTRICT MUSEUM

Miscreants broke into the district museum here yesterday night and made away with valuables and a memento presented by the late, Field Marshal K.M.Carippa.  According to police, miscreants broke open the front door of the museum, made away with a 2.5 feet hanging lamp along with a show case it was locked in , broke a glass show case at  Field Marshal Cariappa gallery and stole a conch.

The watchman who is posted for duty has said that he had gone home after signing the attendance and saw the broken door only in the morning. He reported the matter to the office attender who lodged a complaint.

The district Museum is totally neglected by the Archeology department which has not posted any responsible official to take care of it. An officer who is in charge has to come from Hubli . Only he knows the actual stock and position of the Museum. Exact value and number of items stolen from the Museum would be known only tomorrow.
