CENTRE GIVES A BLOW TO COFFEE GROWERS
The central government has given a blow to coffee growers by
out rightly rejecting their demand to waiver agriculture loans and interest. Addressing the delegation at New Delhi yesterday, the finance minister Mr.P.Chidambaram clarified that the government can not waive off loans to coffee or any other agriculture products and can only think of reducing the rate of interest. He however said that date for the repayment of loan could be extended. The delegation led by Member of the Parliament, Mrs.Prema Kariappa. Ministers Mr.Oscar Fernandes, Mr.Rajshekaran, Mr.K.H.Muniappa, MP, Sreekantappa and KPA president Shankare Gowda, representatives of Federation of state planters and UPASI accompanied the delegation. KODAGU RESIDENT DIES IN KERALA
Shalin, 31, a resident of Kodagu died due to an accident at
Kerala. Shalin who met with an accident at Kerala died in a hospital at
Madikeri yesterday. The car she was in was hit by a truck near Trichi. She was travelling with her husband and two children at the time of the accident. The family was returning to Kodagu after attending a wedding. HEART CAMP
The Lioness Club of Bangalore, Manipal Heart Foundation,
Bangalore, Kodagu Ekikarana Ranga and District Child welfare department have
jointly organised a free heart check up camp at Madikeri. The organisers said
that the camp would be held at Balbhavan building at Madikeri on this 27th. |
