FREE HEART CHECK UP HELD

 

Around 288 patients were given free heart check up in a camp held here yesterday. Experts from Manipal Heart Foundation made Ecogram, Scanning and ECG checkups and suggested immediate treatment to 49 patients. Three among them including a 1.5 year old  are serious cases, they said. Financially poor and children would be treated free of cost in Bangalore. Other patients would be given treatment at a reasonable price.

 

Rotary president Mr.Sharavanan inaugurated the camp. The camp was co sponsored by the district women and child welfare department, Lions and Lioness clubs of Jayanagar, Bangalore and Kodagu Ekikarana Ranga and Manipal Heart Foundation.

 

 

MLA ASSURES SPECIAL PACKAGE

 

Mr.B.A.Jivijaya, MLA from Somwarpet constituency has assured to get the rupees 107 crore package to Kodagu assured by the state government. He was addressing the gathering after being felicitated at Nellihudikeri. MLA assured to sanction amount for the small bridges in the area.

 

Meanwhile,Virajpet MLA, Mr.Basavaraju has said that he will solve the entrance problem rocking the Junior college. He was reacting to reports alleging that the college principal has illegally closed entry with the excuse of shortage of teaching staff and facilities. Talking to this correspondent, MLA said that the matter would also be brought before the government.

 

 

DEMAND FOR KANNADA BHAVAN

 

The taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishath president Mr.T.P.Ramesh has urged to build a Kannada Bhavan in Madikeri. Addressing scribes here, he said that the taluk requires a hall with a seating capacity of one thousand.

 

He also said that the Parishath with the co operation of other organisation would hold series of cultural activities to celebrate centenary of Kuvempu.
