Mr.M.N.Gundu Rao, a centenarian and the first assistant commissioner of the then ‘C’ state of Kodagu was FELICITATED by the Kodagu Brahmins association.

 

Mr.Rao who was also the past president of the association was honoured on the occasion the association’s annual function held at Madikeri.

 

Mr.Satyanarayan Rao, assistant Executive engineer of PWD was also honoured on the ocasion for his assistance in construction works.

 

Mr.Prakash presided over the function. Honorary secretary Mr.G.Chidvilas read the report.

 

ARRESTED ON MURDER CHARGES

 

Chokira Kushalappa of Kakur village near Srimangala was arrested in connection with a murder.

 

According to police Chokira Ganapathy was murdered by a group of accused three months before.  While Chokira Subbaiah and Lokesh were arrested in this connection, Kushalappa and Thimmaiah were at large. Thimmaiah is still absconding.

 

CALL TO DEVELOP INTEREST IN SPORTS

 

The national hockey player Mr.M.S.Monnappa called upon the children to develop interest in sports. Inaugurating the valedictory function of the summer camp here, he stated that students can build their all round personality by clubbing sports and education.

 

The camp was organised for the tenth year by Kodagu Vidyalaya, Sports authority of India and youth association.Around 85 students were trained in athletics and Yogasan.  

 

FALLS TO DEATH

 

Srinivas, a 28 year old married man died of a fall. The deceased fell from a roof while repairing and died in a hospital at Kushalnagar.

 

SUICIDE

 

A 42 year old man, Ravi died after consuming poison at Virajpet. According to police, he surrendered to death unable to bear stomach ache.
