BJP HUMBLES MINISTERS IN KODAGU BJP candidates at Madikeri and Virajpet humbled two ministers and won with majority. BJP candidate Mr.K.G.Bopaiah won against excise minister Mr.M.M.Nanaiah with a majority of 8164 votes. He achieved 31,610 votes while Mr.Nanaiah received 20,159 votes. JDs candidate Mr. D.S.Madappa stood second by gaining 23,446 votes. JP candidate Sanketh Poovaiah received 3765 votes, BSP candidate Mr.Kunji Abdulla received 4252 votes and Kannada Nadu candidate Mr.Giri Uthappa received 811 votes. In Virajpet, one time MLA, MrH.D..Basavaraju of BJP triumphed against Mujarai minister Mrs.Suma Vasanth with a majority of 8066 votes. He polled 35,550 votes against Suma Vasanth’s 27,484. JDs candidate Mr.Mutha stood third by receiving 6023 votes. In Somwarpet, one time giant killer Mr.B.A.Jivijaya, who had won against the then chief minister Late R.Gundu Rao and served as a minister now won from Congress ticket against BJP candidate and sitting MLA, Mr.Appachu Ranjan. B.A.Jivijaya received 46,560 votes, Appachu Ranjan 43,763 votes, JDs candidate Mr.V.P.Shashidar 9244 votes, Mr.Rajesh Gundu Rao of Janatha Party 3988 votes, independent candidate Mr.Baverappa 817 votes and Mr.Amruthesh of Kannada Nadu 747 votes. The countings were held at Mangalore. Mr.Veerappa Moily lost against the BJP candidate Mr.Sadananda Gowda with a margin of thirty two thousand in Kodagu – Mangalore parliamentary constituency. |
