MISAPPRORIATION OF RICE Close on the heels of misappropriation coming to light in Mangalore, a similar scandal is being unearthed at Kodagu. Reliable sources disclosed that 30 tons of rice was illegally transported from a godown at Ponnampet in south Kodagu with a hand in glove act of police officer, top officials and two Zilla Panchayath members. Part of the rice was transported with a fake order to be transported under KOOLIGAGI KAALU scheme whereas no such work requiring distribution of rice was carried out. The sources fear that the illegal stock of rice found in Mangalore might also include the stock lifted from Kodagu. Former minister Mrs.Suma Vasanth, MLC MR.Arun Machaiah have urged inquiry. |
