FARMERS HAPPY

 

Whether its early monsoon or cyclone, the farmers in Kodagu, particularly in Somwarpet are all but happy. District received comparatively more rain this season and farmers are out on their fields, ploughing the land. Mainly Jowar , Ragi and paddy  are grown mainly in Somwarpet Taluk and Bylakuppe, the bordering town. Preparations are going on in full swing to plant  the seeds. More than five thousand hectares in Somwarpet are being prepared for plantation.

 

 

TWO CONVICTED

 

Two persons whose cheques have bounced have received fine and imprisonment from a court at Mangalore. Natives of Madikeri, M.E.Hamid and M.E.Abdul Rahim had issued cheques for rupees six and two to one Mrs.Famida  of Mangalore and failed to deposit money in the bank. Famida had filed a case at JMFC court Mangalore. The learned judge has passed order convicting both the persons. Hamid is asked to undergo imprisonment for one month and pay a fine of rupees ten lakh. Whereas, Abdul Rahim is asked to undergo imprisonment for one month and pay a fine of rupees three lakhs.
