BEDU FESTIVAL OF TRIBES Tribes living in Nagarahole
National park observe this festival each year. Generally urban people fear to go there for this festival as
the speciality of this festival is to abuse every one using filthiest language,
especially connecting sentences to Ass! This has a history. The story
goes that Lord Aiyappa was walking in the forest along with a band of hunters.
He saw Goddess Bhadrakali and went after her, forgetting the hunters. Since the
hunters could see hind portion of Aiyappa, tribes from that day onwards started
abusing people on this day of the festival. However, the festival held
recently invited trouble as the verbal abuses turned violent.
CITIZEN SERVICE CENTRE The city municipal council has
decided to open a ‘citizen service centre’ at Madikeri, shortly. Addressing the council meeting,
the chair person Mrs.Kaveramma Somanna told that the centre attached with
computers would assist the citizens to get quick service. The council meeting which witnessed ruckus, as usual over matters like issueing licence, allowing buildings to come up illegally took decisions to provide better parking places in the town. It was also decided to implement strict action against usage of plastic in the town. PROTEST AT HUDIKERI Residents of Hudikeri staged a
protest against Telephone department yesterday. People demanded better service,
filling the vacant post and installing lightening protection device. The protestors returned only after getting a written assurance by the engineer. |
