EXECUTIVE ENGINEER ATTACKED;

 

Mr.Thimmegowda, an executive engineer of the Karnataka urban water supply and sewage board was attacked by BJP workers at Virajpet, chairperson Mrs.K.P.Chandrakala alleged.

 

Addressing scribes here, she said that the BJp led by its MLA Mr.Basavaraju is resorting to Goondaism and warned that the congress will block funds to developmental works at Virajpet, if the MLA continues such activities.

 

She also alleged that police failed to initiate action against the accused.

 

Mr.Thimmegowda was attacked in the Virajpet Inspection Bungalow on 29th by three BJP workers. A complaint was lodged at the police station. However, as MLA Mr.Basavaraju intercepted, case was amicably settled by taking written assurance from the accused not to indulge in such activities in future.

Mrs.Chandrakala urged immediate action.

 

 

ACTION AGAINST ABSENTEE OFFICIALS URGED;

 

MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah has urged action against officials who are abstaining fromattending development review meetings.

 

MLA was addressing the Taluk Development Review meeting, yesterday.

Observing that four officials were absent in the meeting he bombarded their attitude and adviced action even against the officials who fail to submit report about development.

 

Mr.Bopaiah urged to conduct enquiry about spending money by the Animal Husbandry department which has shown funds spent to grow maize. Bopaiah charged that he has not seen a single spot where maize is being grown.

He also lambasted the women and child development officer for buying food and cereal from Agro society which was supplying low graded food items to Anganavadis. He said that strict instructions were issued earlier to detest from buying food items from there.

 

 

ASTRO TURF TO KODAGU;

 

MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah disclosed here that the orders to sanction Astro Turf to madikeri would be ready in two days.

 

Inaugurating the district level dasara sports at the stadium here he said that the deputy director of the SAi, Mr.M.P.Ganesh has confirmed with the MP Mr.sadananda Gowda that the sanction is in its final stage.

 

Continuing, Mr.Bopaiah called upon the youth to continue the tradition of joining national teams. He asked them to pay attention to physical exercise hand in hand with the academical studies.

 

 

THESE WOMEN NEED ARRACK;

 

Hell is breaking loose at villages around Torenoor since a week. Last Sunday different organizations of women staged strong protests against arrack outlets and even removed two shops. Arrack sachets were handed over to excise department.

 

With a changed wind yesterday, a group of women along with men staged a protest demanding that they need arrack shops in villages. Ladies shouted that they need to drink with men. They argued that the men who would be forced to drink arrack from a distant outlet would find it difficult to walk back, especially at night. They face danger from rogue elephants or even could not walk in a drunken state.
