BY LAWS TO GRAIN BANKS STREAMLINED Former minister Mr.M.C.Nanaiah told here that the By Laws to all the grain banks in the district are streamlined with similar rules and regulations to strengthen them. Addressing a seminar here, held by the District co operative union and state co operative FEDERATION, Mr.Nanaiah regretted that the grain banks started first in Kodagu for the benefit of the farmers is nearing extinction. He said that since the farmers hold the membership of these banks, it is unscientific to provide them grain as loan. He informed that the banks in future should provide rupees ten thousand as loan instead of grains to the farmers. Agriculture expert Mr.Swamynathan explained that a stable
grain bank would be a boon in case of draughts and other calamities. He
stressed the need to rejuvenate the grain banks crumbling under loss. |
