CUBS AND BULBULS TO INVITE DR.KALAM The commissioner of State Scouts and Guides Mr.Kondajji B.Shanmukhappa told here that the president of India, Dr.Abdul Kalam would be invited to thye state Cubs and Bulbul festival scheduled to be held between January 5 and 9. Mr.Shanmukappa addressing a meeting to form different committees to conduct the five day festival at Madikeri told that over one thousand children between the age group of five and ten will take part in the festival. He said that the state committee will release rupees seventy five thousand and remaining amount should be raised through donations and printing souvenir. He said that they have already spoken to the district in charge minister Mrs Meenakshi Poonacha stated that a budget of rupees ten lakh is prepared. The festival committee would be led by Deputy Commissioner Mr.Srikanth Valgadh. DC, SP Mr.Devjyothi Ray and others were present in the meeting. DASARA TO BE HELD IN GRAND SCALE A meeting held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner Mr.Srikanth Valgadh decided to hold Dasara at Madikeri in a grand scale. A budget of rupees 10.14 lakh was presented before the meeting and a committee was formed. Meanwhile the district in charge minister Mr.Tanvir Sait has also assured to hold Dasara in a grand scale. He has said that the govt will boost the image of Kodagu in the tourist map and allow benefits to tourists who buy privilege cards during Mysore Dasara. CNC PLANS DEHALI CHALO The secretary general of Codava National Council told in a press conference that he will hold a Dehali Chalo rally for two days on November 9 and 10. He said that the rally would be held to demand constitutional security and guarantee to Kodavas, their language and culture. He said that they are demanding political and financial independence too. A seminar is also organized at New Delhi. Meanwhile he alleged that a fake certificate scam is active in the Field Marshal Cariappa College Bio Chemistry Department at Madikeri. He urged a high level inquiry against it. |
