The government has identified 32 towns in 21 districts to bring under this new scheme.  The Women groups are directed to collect rupees 20 from each house for this purpose. The houses refusing to pay would be punished by the local bodies by disconnecting water supply or levying fine.

These groups would also be given the responsibility of maintaining public toilets.

Stree Shakthi groups in the district are thriving. They are manufacturing Umbrellas, candles phenol etc. Rekha stated that the groups are being released loan to the tune of rupees 2.5 lakhs under various schemes.
