THOUSANDS GALORE AT VIRAJPET;

 

Thousands of people galored Virajpet, yesterday night  to witness Ganapathy immersion ceremony.

 

Colurfully lit Chariots of Ganapathy enthralled the audience through their majestic procession.

 

Fourteen chariots took part in the night long procession and immersion ceremony which ended with the Sun rise today.

 

 

MINISTERS ORDERS TO TIDY TOWN;

 

The district in charge minister Mr.Tanvir Sait yesterday directed the officials to repair the pot holes and prepare the town for the celebration of Dasara.

Addressing series of meetings held with officials, committee members of Dasara celebration , elected representatives and Chamber of commerce, Mr.Sait said that the age old Dasara should be celebrated to uphold the past glories. He called upon the people to donate liberally and said that a proposal was also placed before the Chief Minister to release fund. He announced that liquor would be banned in the town for three days during Dasara.

 

The Deputy Commissioner Mr.Srikanth valgad, ZP chairperson Mrs.Chitra Ramesh,MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah,CEO Mr.Budihal were present. CoC president G.Rajendra, committee presidents Mr.G.Chidvilas, Sridara Hoovalli, Mr.M.P.Muthappa, secretary Mr.Satish Pai and others briefed the minister about the programmes.

 

 

KODAGU PEX – 2004

 

The department of posts will hold a three day postal exhibition at Madikeri for the first time between Oct 2 to 4.

 

Announcing this in a press conference, Superintendent of Post offices, mrs.Rajeshwari Ramachandran told that more than 12,000 stamps would be exhibited on the occasion. In the 150 year history of Posts, the department is conducting exhibition of this kind at Madikeri for the first time, she explained. Three first day covers would be released depicting the significance of Kodagu during the three day exhibition. The DC Mr.Srikanth Valgad will inaugurate. Post master General.Dr.K.B.H.Naik will  preside over the valedictory function.

 

 

GANAPA ON CARDS;

 

Over two hundred fifty post cards with pictures of Lord Ganapathy were nexhibited today in the premises of GMP school, here.

 

Shanta Mallikarjuna Swamy inaugurated the exhibition organised by Mr.Satish, drawing teacher.

 

The pictures were contributed by students from all over the district for competition.
