AUTO DRIVER BUTCHERED TO DEATH;

An old enmity between two-auto drivers leads to barbarous murder of at near Gonicoppa yesterday.

According to police,an auto driver V.S.Shivkumar butchered to death a colleague Manju near a field at night. The accused carried grudge against Manju suspecting him to have informed about his misdeeds, two years ago.

Shivkumar was charged of molesting two girls in a lodge, two years ago at Periyapatna. Cases were registered against him. He suspected Manju of informing the police about his illegal activity. However he posed as a close friend to Manju since then and waited for an opportunity to kill him. Manju was attacked with a bill hook. His body was found in a pool of blood.

The auto drivers at Gonicoppa yesterday stage a protest yesterday and urged the police to arrest the accused person who is now absconding.

CLUB MAHINDRA OPENS RESORT;

Indias leading holiday brand, Club Mahindra opened its new resort, the Club Mahindra Kodagu Valley near Madikeri.

Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra, Mr. Keshub Mahindra inaugurated the resort yesterday by cutting the Ribbon.

Later, addressing the scribes, chairman of the Mahindra Holidays and Resorts India Ltd., Mr.Arun Nanda told that his group aims to promote family holidays and new domestic destinations. After the success of newer destinations such as Munnar, Binsar and Kufri, the resort here is the fourteenth destination in a span of last seven years.

The Kodagu valley resort contains 62 luxurious apartments and will boast 170 in all.

Addressing the scribes, the managing director of the Resorts ltd Mr.Ramesh Ramnathan quipped that people who have described Kerala as Gods own country has not seen Kodagu. He said the Mahindra holiday Resorts is affiliated to 4000 resorts in India and worldwide through RCI network.

PANCHAYATH PRESIDENT IN THE DOCK;

President of the Kudumangalor Gram Panchayath, Mrs.Parvathamma was arrested by police with her husband on charges of threatening a lady.

The police stated that a resident Gowramma has lodged a complaint alleging harassment. A Panchayath employee, Manjunath was also arrested by police and a case was registered.
