HUSBAND KILLS WIFE

An incident of husband killing a wife has been reported. Kanathanda Leelavathi (25) a wife who was residing in her parents house to avoid dowry harassment by her husband was shot down by him in the parents house. After their marriage husband Odianda Pattu Irappa started dowry harassment and the wife Leelavathi came back to her parents house at Kadanur Village,Virajpet thaluk. The accused belong to Surlabbi village, Somwarpet thaluk. When Lelavathi was watching the T.V. during night 10.30 P.M.in her parents house the accused Pattu directly shot her from the window gap. She died on the spot. The eye witness her mother Nanjavva is shocked by the incident. her brother Charmanna is also the eye witness. Virajpet Rural police are searching for the accused.

PULS POLIO 97 % ACHIEVEWMENT

Madikeri April 11 Under the National pulse Polio scheme 52,700 children in 462 booths were provided the pulse Polio drops achieving 97% in the district informed the District Health Office press release.

In Madikeri thaluk out of 14,092 children 13,409 were provided, In Somwarpet thaluk the statistics show 18,509 out of 18,809 and in Virajpet thaluk the figure shows 20,787 out of 21,515. Mr. K.G.Bopaiah, the local M.L.A through a polio drop to a childcommenced the programme.The District health officer Dr. Devdas, District Surgeon Dr. V.D.Palekar and others were present in the District hospital during the commencement.
