DELEGATION MET C.M. DEMANDING TREE RIGHT

A delegation met the Chief Minister Mr. Dharam Singh and demanded for providing right over tree on their own lands. In all other districts in the state, right over tree is a common law, whereas Kodagu land owners suffer without the legal right over the trees which they grow on their own lands. Mr. A.K.Subbaiah, Ex. M.L.C, Advocate and the Convener of the Kodagu Farmers association presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard.

High Court verdict in a particular case pertaining to Chakkera Poovaiah and others from Hudikeri village clearly mentions the Special privilege the Jamma Land Holders in Kodagu have by virtue of the historical provisions and they are entitled to cut the trees grown on these lands-said Mr. Subbaiah. Mrs Suma Vasanth Ex. Minister, Mr. B.A. Jeevijaya and Mr. K.G.Bopaiah, M.L.A’s from Kodagu, Mr. C.M.Pemmaiah, Nanda Subbaiah, C.M.Kaverappa, Ex. Minister Mr. T.John, M.S.Uthappa and others in the delegation supported the plea made by Mr. Subbaiah.

After hearing the problem Mr. Dharam Singh, the Chief Minister assured the matter would be discussed in the next Cabinet Committee in detail and the Decision would be taken considering the mass benefit- he added.,

Before the meeting with the chief Minister, the delegation had also met the State revenue, Law and Forest Secretaries and discussed to sort out the problem pertaining the legal consequences between Forest and Revenue departments regarding the Tree right.

INVESTIGATION OVER MISUSE

Misappropriation of amount sanctioned under various Govt Schemes by Virajpet Thaluk Social welfare lady officer caused hot atmosphere in the Virajpet thaluk Panchayahth meeting. Nagachampa, Social welfare officer has to face charges against her by the thaluk Panchayahth members in the meeting. Many School teachers have given written complaint against the officer alleging misappropriation of Salary funds and other allowances. Many S.C.ST Schemes are not implemented, but the amount has been drawn. When, the Thaluk Panchayahth President Mr. V.A.Venkatesh questioned about the allegations, the officer Nagachampa protested it. Then, all the members jointly criticized her attitude, The meeting decided to conduct thorough enquiry about the allegations.
