KRISHNA RAO TO HEAD COFFEE BOARD?

The reliable sources from Coffee Board have disclosed that an IAS officer Mr.Krishna Rao will replace its chairperson Mrs. Lakshmi Venkataraman.

The name of Mr.Krishna Rao, who is presently working in Bhadravathi Paper mills as its MD has been proposed by the Board, which has to be approved by the ministry.

BOARD CHAIRPESON MEETS WITH ACCIDENT;

Chairperson of the State water and drainage board, Mrs.K.P.Chandrakala has been hospitalized yesterday after an accident.

Her car collided against a lorry near Channapatna yesterday morning injuring her along with the driver. Both of them were immediately shifted to a private hospital in Bangalore. While Chandrakala has suffered injury on her chest, back and legs, the condition of the driver is said to be serious.

According to Chandrakala, the quails car her driver was driving was hit by a Kerala registered lorry. Negligence of the lorry driver is said to be the cause of accident. The car is totally damaged. Police have seized the lorry and registered a case against the driver.

VAT CENTER AT MANGALORE;

A VAT center is opened at Mangalore to collect tax from Kodagu and Mangalore.

The merchants here have complained that the VAT nodal offices situated in Kodagu are not authorized to issue even form, causing great hurdle.

People have to travel to Mangalore, even to get a form of registration, they complain.

RAPE ATTEMPT GETS TWO-YEAR RI;

Two men attempting to rape a labourer was convicted by a court with four years rigorous imprisonment.

The Munsif court at Virajpet convicted Anand and Prakash of Manchalli village near Kutta to under go four years RI, charged on two sections. The imprisonment of two years each will run concurrently.

The accused attempted to rape a labourer by taking her into a forest during last year.
