BRUTAL MURDER AT KUNJILA;

In a bizarre incident reported from Kunjila village near Napoklu, a group of youth pulled a person down from a private bus and hacked him to death, yesterday evening.

Makki Ali and two of his brothers were traveling in a private bus, returning from a wedding. A gang following them in a motorcycle and a jeep boarded the bus in Kunjila bustop and chopped Alis head. His two brothers Hamsa and Ibrahim ran for life.

The gang allegedly led by one Basheer, later threw the body of Makki Ali out from the bus and left. People were watching the incident with shock and disbelief. The group of people watching the dead body sprawling on the ground in a pool of blood ran helter skelter as the accused rushed back to the spot again in the motorcycle. The frenzied group again chopped the two legs and disappeared.

Police registered a case and are looking for the culprits. According to them the murder is a result of rivalry between two groups. Last year, the deceased with his followers had tried to kill Basheer by dashing their jeep against him. Both the groups have more than ten cases each registered against them in different cases, police said.

SKATING COMPETITION INAUGURATED;

Skating coach Mr.Srikanth from Mysore told yesterday that Kodagu has good scope in skating. Addressing the gathering in the INAUGURAL function of the competition, he said that the skaters from Kodagu are already etching names and they can go to National and international level through practice.

Director of All India Radio, her, Mrs.Indira Gajaraj opined that skating needs encouragement since it gives good body and mind exercise. Whereas cricket is gaining undue popularity, she remarked. CoC president Mr.G.Rajendra inaugurated the competition. Mr.Jeevan Chinnapa presided.

CHIKO BANK ROBBED AT GUNPOINT;

In a day light robbery ,The Chikmagalur_ Kodagu bank branch at Hoddur near Murnad was today looted at gunpoint.

A gang of three, arriving in a TATA Qualis entered the Bank around 2 P.M. Only bank manager Mr.Sudhakar Naik and attender Surya were present .

According to police, one person removed a knife and another a revolver. The gang pushed the two into a room and locked them. Grabbing the cash the trio made away in the vehicle they had come. Though the exact amount missing is yet to be established, the Madikeri Chiko manager told that around fifty thousand is lifted by the gang.

Superintendent of police, Mr.Devjyothi Ray has visited the place. Dog squad is pressed to service. Investigation is on.
