SSLC ; DISTRICT IN SIXTEENTH PLACE;Kodagu district figures in sixteenth place in SSLC result, published yesterday. According to education department it has achieved 64.19% in the state. Among the 7403 students appearing for the examination S.A.Sushma of St.Joseph’s convent, Madikeri stood first to the district by scoring 97.12 percent. Soujanya M.Rai and Shwetha Vishwanath from the same school scored 95.36 percent and shared second second place, while Y.D.Shakthi of St.Josephs convent, Somwarpet stood third. Girls stand first in securing highest marks with 100 of them securing distinction. Around forty boys also passed in distinction. Many schools in the district registered 100% pass by taking district to 14th place in scoring highest marks. 21 from KODAGU FOR SPEED SKATING;21 participants are taking part in the All India Invitation Speed Skating Championship being held on this 29 and 30. The team from Kodagu left for Pune, the venue of Championship today. The children are trained and sent by the Kodagu Roller Skaters Association. NOMINATED FOR ACADEMY;Writer Mr.Baddira Subbaiah, Singer, Kaliyanda P.Aiyanna and Folk dancer Mrs.Mukkatira Thangamma are nominated for Kodava Academy. Announcing this in a press conference, chairperson of the academy, Mrs.Dotty Poovaiah stated that the ten-member committee of the Academy elected the nominated members unanimously. She also said that different committees would be formed shortly to take up programmes. |
