RUPEES 8.3 CRORES O KUSHALNAGAR;

The Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage board has sanctioned rupees 8.3 crores to Kushalnagar to take up drainage work.

Conforming this through fax message, the chairperson Mrs.Chandrakala said that the board has sanctioned the amount and the government has to approve this. The files are sent to government, she said.

The ubderground Drainage formation to Kushalnagar upto Gummanakolli and Mullusoge was a proposal prepared during the period of late Mr.R.Gundu Rao, when he was a chief minister. The project never took off even though survey works were all over.

Mrs.Chandrakala said that the board would take up under ground drainage scheme at Madikeri after the completion of Kushalnagar scheme.

NEW TAHASILKDAR TO MADIKERI;

Mr.B.D.Srishaila from Hassan will take charge as the Tahasildar here.

He will replace Mr.Ramesh G Palkar who is now transferred to Belgaum.

14 NOMINATIONS FILED FOR APMC ELECTION;

Fourteen nominations are filed for the post of directors in the district for APMC elections to be held on May 29.

The nominations are filed for the three APMCs’ at Madikeri, Virajpet and Kushalnagar.

While three nominations are received against eleven at Madikeri, Six were received against 11 at Kushalnagar. Five nominations are filed against 11 at Gonicoppal.

Tomorrow (29th) is the last date for filing nomination. The election would be held on May 29th. Counting will be held on 31st.

KEDAMBADI CUP CRIKET INAUGURATED;

President of the Kundacheri Gram Panchayath Mr.C.B.Venugopal inaugurated the Kedambadi cricket tournament to be played between Gowda families at Sannapulikotu.

Addressing the gathering, Mr.Venugopal stated that the family cricket would strengthen the bond. Chief guest Mr.K.D Belliappa said that the cricket being organized in rural area would give boost to the sportsmen who remain unnoticed in villages. He advised them to take hint from national and state players to improve their skills.

President of the Gowda Cultural Academy mr.Tumtaje Ganesh called upon the people to develop love towards their culture. He said that they shall seek the assistance of Gowda community members from South Canara in their activities.

The Bidrupane team made 66 run for no loss while Perubai team scored only 60 runs for loss of nine wickets in the inaugural match. The Ponnachana team scored 61 run for no loss while Kedambadi team lost six wickets for 60 runs. Ponnachana team again defeated Parekunjilana by making 53 runs against 28, all out. Bidrupade team won against Sullyakodi with 36 – 10.

BIDDANDA CUP HOCKEY COMPLETES 13 DAYS;

The marathon twenty-day hockey of Biddanda cup at Madikeri completed thirteen days of family hockey, yesterday.

Mr.Anjaparavanda Roshan Madappa registered a record by hitting a goal at the fifteenth second against kanganda. He took his team to victory with 9 – 0.
