TUSKAR CHASES TRESSPASSERS AWAY;A tusker played the role of police and chased a group cutting trees, illegally in government land. The incident was reported from Ankanalli near Shanivarsanthe. According to forest officials, Somappa and seven others were cutting trees in Oorudve land on the night of 30th. A tusker appeared before them and gave a chase. Somappa, 60, was unable to run. As the fate would have it, the tusker dashed towards the crowd with Somappa falling on the ground, directly under the pachyderm. It did not notice him. However, he was injured as one foot came upon him. The forest sleuths who rushed to the spot shifted him to hospital. The others escaped unhurt. ARTIST FROM BUNTWAL THROWN AT MADIKERI;Miscreants threw an artist, Hemachandra from Buntwal at a remote place near Madikeri. According to police, he was bundled into a Maruthi car at Sullia by a gang of four. Throwing chilly powder on his face, thje gang beat him black and blue and threw him out of the car near aMosque. The priest found him twirling in pain on the main road and sent message to police. The main acused is named as Rajesh. However the motive for the attack is not known. LAD FROM SHIMOGA FALLS AT ABBI;H.A.Dhananjay,21, a resident of Shimoga had a fall from Abbe falls here yesterday and received grievous injuries. The victim arrived here with his friends for a tour and fell as he was climbing a rock. He was shifted to Shimoga in serious condition, after first aid here. Abbe falls claims dozens of lives each year. Boards are erected asking tourists not to venture swimming or climbing rocks. Though police are regularly posted to guard the area, no cops were found yeterday. |
