GIRL FROM KODAGU ALLEGEDLY SOLD;A deaf and dumb girl student from Kodagu was allegedly sold at Belgaum for flesh trade. A fifteen-year-old girl, Mamatha was reportedly missing since September from a school at Belgaum and it has now come to light that the school staff is suspectedly involved in flesh trade. The suspicion strengthened as four school staff members from Government Deaf and Dumb School at Belgaum and forced the poor parents to sign on empty sheet. Suspecting the move, the villagers rounded up the group and handed them over to police. The school reportedly lodged a complaint in Belgaum earlier during September about the missing and kept quite. The poverty stricken parents made no efforts to trace the girl or investigate the matter. However, one of the staff that is here admitted that a lady in their school was involved in flesh racket. Police have sent words to the school superintendent in Belgaum to arrive here. He is expected to come today. DC CAUTIONED ABOUT ERRATIC POWER;Representatives of different organizations yesterday met the Deputy Commissioner and appealed him to caution the KPTCL to set the power supply right before people revolt. BJP president Mr.S.G.Medappa, CoC president Mr.G.Rajendra, BJP secretary Mr.Sunil Subramani, former vice president of the CMC Mr.V.P.Aiyappa and others addressed the DC and urged bring pressure on the department not to cut electricity and transfer the erring officials. HOUSE WIFE DIES OF BURNING.,Varalakshmi, a house wife at Kadamakal near Sampaje died due to burn injuries at Manipal yesterday leading to suspecion. Her mother lodged a complaint with Madikeri taluk police and alleged that her son in law was harassing her daughter and his hand is suspected in the mishap. It is reported that both Varalakshmi and her husband were admitted to Manipal hospital with burn injuries a few days ago. Superintendent of police Mr.Devjyothi Ray stated that he was not aware of the incident as no complaints were lodged about the incident, earlier. Investigations are on. |
