MANAGER FACES SUSPENSION;The registrar of co-operative societies has ordered suspension of manager of an Agriculture Bank at Maldare . The order came after the registrar’s office conducted an inquiry over the large-scale misappropriation of funds was reported. Lakhs of rupees was misappropriated in the name of releasing benefit to Sc and St Beneficiaries with the knowledge of president and members, it is alleged. The managing committee was adiced to suspend the manager or face action. Even loans are drawn in the names of beneficiaries and notices are issued to them to refund the money, when no money was released to them! OFFICER CONFESSES BRIBE;The district weights and measures officer Mr.Hemanna Mallur yesterday accepted to have collected illegal money from merchants and assured to return it. The officer was taken to task by the members of Cauri Sene, led by Rai Chengappa at Madikeri. They questioned him as to why he was collecting more money from the merchants and threatened him of serious consequences. A sweating officer accepted his fault and promised to return the excess collection. BROAD BAND FROM APRIL;The district will have broadband service from the month of April, said the general manager of Telecom department. Talking top this correspondent he said that the customers could enjoy video conferencing and telephone conversation at a time once this service is provided. Mr.Mani disclosed that the district has around thirteen thousand mobile connections and it would be raised to twenty fie thousand by year end. He also hinted at raising the coin call charges from one rupee to two rupee from April. |
