YES..THERE IS PHONE AND ELECTRICITY TOO!

But no connection! Story of the cash strapped PWD

A VIP visiting the reputed Sudarshan IB here yesterday could not believe his ears as the attendant disclosed that the out going calls there are barred! The electricity connection was not disconnected for the fact that Vips stay over there.

A police officer staying in the Inspection bungalow in Mangalore road had to beg for water by shouting, as the dry tap inside the toilet gave him a shock of life.

Later, he had to request a hotel owner for place to take bath. Same story continues with the PWD owned inspection bungalows situated at Napoklu, Kushalnagar and Bhagamandala.

The cash strapped PWD has failed to clear the telephone and electricity bill. The above departments mercilessly disconnected connection in all the offices and IBs belonging to it.

While this is the story at the Inspection Bungalows, the telephone and fax machines in the reputed PWD office are also disconnected with only incoming calls allowed till certain period. All these because the department has failed to clear the bill!

The work in the department is badly hit as Fax and telephone connections, along with electricity are hampered.

The bills are not cleared since the amount under that head is not sanctioned, said an officer. “ The government has no money. How long it can continue this way, only God knows” is the opinion of another officer who seems sincere in his statement.

Long live PWD.
