MINI HYDEL PROJET AT BARAPOLE;

The Atria Brindaa Power Limited has larified that it is only a 6 MW mini hydel projet whih is oming up at Barapole in south Kodagu.

The clarification came as continued protests are raging against the project being mooted by the government.

In a written statement the company said that no land is going to submerge when the project comes up as was claimed by the protestors. Strong opposition is gathering momentum in the district as the company has started to form roads to the spot cradled amidst green treasure. Protestors have held round the clock dharna before the district administration for four days and ended it yesterday after the Deputy Commissioner assured to convey their feelings to government.

The environmentalists have told that no such project could be taken up in the green belt area which is going to damage flora and fauna.

CoC SERVES ULTIMATUM TO KPTCL;

The district chamber of commerce yesterday served an ultimatum to KPTCL to settle interruption in power in Kodagu.

Addressing a press conference, president of the CoC Mr.Rajendra warned that a district wide protest with grave consequences would be held if the authoprities ignore CoC demand.

The ultimatum was served to the KPTCL due to its lethargic response to the several pleas from different corners.

Meanwhile the Chamber urged the government to consider developing Kodagu seriously as its slogans are remaining within four walls.

DC TRANSFERRED;

The Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu Mr.Srikanth Valgadh has been transferred to Haryana, according to reports.

Serving here since two years, Mr.Valgadh was earlier in service at Haryana.
