TWO DIES IN WALL COLLAPSE;Two youngsters indulging in work died and another escaped with fractures as a wall of a house collapsed. The incident was reported at Guddehosur, 30 Kms from here. Mahesh,30, Satish,25, and Radha alias Chinnappa were working in a paddy yard at the time of the incident. A twelve feet high wall of the old house attached to the field collapse and the trio were caved in. Satish and Chinnappa died on the spot, while Mahesh escaped with broken legs and limbs. He is shifted to hospital. Kushalnagar police have registered a case. ACCIDENTS CLAIM TWO LIVES;Two persons died in accidents occurred at Kushalnagar and Ponnampet. According to police, Pradip, son of a village accountant died on the spot and a pillion rider was injured severely as a motor bike they were traveling turtle under high speed. In another incident, a car at Ponnampet knocked down an unknown pedestrian. The wounded was shifted to Mysore for higher treatment. Gonicoppal police have registered a case and seized the vehicle. KODAVA MELA HELD AT CHIKMAGALORE;Kodava Samaj Chikmagalore and Kodava Elthkarada Koota, Kodagu held a cultural show yesterday at Chikmagalore. A colourful procession by the Kodavas in their traditional dress on the main streets of Chikmagalore attracted the residents. President of the Koota, Mr.U.M.Poovaiah addressed the gathering and said that all to carry the great heritages to future generation should protect the culture. Former minister and chairman of the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat B./L.Shankar appreciated the culture bound Kodavas and said that the western culture is evading the Malnad areas awhile Kodavas are holding on to their traditions. President of ther State Bar association Mr.Mr.Belliappa released a book authored by M.P.Shambu. President of the Chikmagalur Kodava Samaj Mr. P.Apopanna presided over the function.MLA Mr.C.T.Ravi was present.Mrs.Daty Poovaiah and Mr.K.Motaiah compered the programme.C.Ravi Subbaiah proposed vote of thanks. TIGER SKIN SEIZED;Bylakuppe police arrested three persons and seized tiger skin worth rupees 1.5 lakh in Tibetan campus yesterday. According to police, Tanvir, Abdulla and Manikyam were transporting the skin to the Tibetan campus. Acting on a tip off, police blocked the auto carrying the skin and arrested the culprits. It can be recalled that Tibetans were involved in tiger skin trade on earlier occasions too. |
