BOOK YOUR TIKETS SITTING AT HOME!

The State road transport security and traffic Managing director Mr.B.Bhaskar Rao told here yesterday that the KSRTC will launch a new project “Avatar” by next September to book tickets from home through internet.

Addressing the scribes during his visit and inspection at the KSRTC depot, Mr.Rao told that the reservation would also facilitate tickets for return journey.

Meanwhile the financial scenario is not very encouraging in the department, he opined. The department, which has earned 32 crores as profit in the last fiscal year, is hardly meeting ends in the present fiscal, he noted. In the 41 years of KSRTC history, it has opened a marketing division for the first time in the history due to competitions, he said.

He is touring the state depots to verify the revenue initiation process, Rao said. While the department has planned to push one thousand new busses to service, it has already acquired 300 busses, he said. The red colour of the department busses would be replaced with seven, rainbow colours, slowly, he said. Added to it electronic ticket system would be established all over the state

Mr.Rao explained changes made in the department for bettering the service and blocking pilferage. Internal officer Mr.Padmanabh, security officer Mr.Ramachandraiah and Mangalore division traffic controller Mr.Ashok Kumar were present.

KILLS SELF, TRIES TO KILL DAUGHTER;

A 48-year-old widow, Padmamma of Gargandur village near here committed suicide here yesterday and tried to kill her daughter too.

The 25 year old daughter, Kanchana, married to a driver stated to police in the hospital that her mother wanted both of them dead due to a family problem and gave poison for consuming. While the mother died at Madikeri hospital, Kanchana is recovering. She said that her mother even wanted her three-year daughter also dead. But Kanchana sent her away.

GOWDA TO FIGHT TILL HIS END;

Former Prime Minister Mr.Devegowda told at Somwarpet that he would fight for the rights of the poor till his body enters the six feet pit.

Lambasting his detractors for their comments against him, Mr.Gowda said that he had steered the country successfully as a PM and would continue to serve the land 24 hours, if required.

Stating that the Dharam government is balancing the administration well, he quipped that their party is prepared to face the election if the government falls.

KODAGU WATCHFUL FOR NAXALITES ENTRY;

Border areas are being carefully watched in Kodagu for the possible entry of Naxalites, according to a source.

The police are reportedly alerted by the state about the entry, especially into western ghat.

ADVOCATE REMEMBERED;

Reknowned advocate Kokkengada late M.Ponnappa was remembered by the Bar association here recently.

The family of Mr.Ponnappa, wife Mrs Sowbhagya and daughter Ms.Swapna donated rupees seventy thousand to the association in his memory to start a welfare fund. Amount was handed over to the bar president Mr.B.J.Chinnappa.

District and Sessions judge Mr.Lenkannavar unveiled a portrait of the advocate, who was also the president of the Bar. Sessions judge from Bangalore, Mr.K.M.Thammaiah spoke on the occasion. Judges Sreekanth Vatavati, Indira Chettiar,RD Ekbote and others were present. Secretary Mr.Ganapathy proposed vote of thanks.
