FACELIFT FOR DISTRICT HOSPITAL;

The district hospital has signed a contract with Jayadeva Speciality hospital in Bangalore and shortly opens a Cardiology department.

Disclosing it to this correspondent, District surgeon Dr.Palekar said that heart patients would be treated in government hospital in future.

He stated that required equipments and staff to conduct heart surgery would be arranged shortly by the Jayadeva Hospital and an eight bed special ward is being furnished.

Dr.Palekar also disclosed that a highway accident center would be opened with separate staff and government has nodded to this project.

Besides, a garden for children would come up in the premises of Women and Children’s hospital.According to him, around forty child inmates would be in the hospital each day and they can relax in the garden.

At the same time, the hospital is suffering from shortage of staff. A physiotherapy department with costly equipments with a cost of 25 to 30 lakhs is lying idle due to shortage of staff. The surgeon stated that correspondences are on to fill the vacant posts.

ASTRO TURF FOR DISTRICT;

The long awaited dream of hockey lovers in the district to have an Astro Turf ground might realize shortly.

Chairman of the District Hockey Association, Mr.Mohan Aiyappa said that tenders are called to finalise the Astro Turf scheme to Madikeri and Mollera P.Ganesh,director of the Sports Authority of India has confirmed this to him over phone. Tenders would be opened on this sixth, he said.

SOLDIER DIES IN HYDERABAD;

A resident of Kodagu and a CRPF soldier B.L.Venkatappa Shetty died at Hyderabad in a road accident at Hyderabad, recently.

His body was cremated at hios native place, Cinnalli yesterday with full government honour. The deceased met with an accident as he was taking a colleague to a hospital treatment. While he died on the spot, his colleague Mr.Nair is injured seriously.
