ROWDY SHEETER DONE TO DEATH;A rowdy sheeter facing many criminal activities, Mandetira Bopanna, 32 was yesterday done to death by unknown criminals. Miscreants blocked his Gypsy near his house around 8.45 p.m and opened fire from a revolver from a point blank range. Even after opening three rounds of gunfire, the miscreants butchered him to death with swords. An unlicensed country revolver hidden inside his chest broke into two with the impact of gunshot from miscreants. The Gypsy he was seated banged against a house compound wall and stopped with his body hanging outside. While three bullets entered his body, the floor near the incident was thick with blood spilling from deep wounds inflicted all over the body. Superintendent of police Mr.Devjyothi Ray visited the spot and formed three police teams to nab the culprits. Mr.Ray said that Bopanna had formed enemies by involving in murder and extortion activities and that could be the reason for his murder. DIES IN ACIDENT;President of Kodanda Rama temple committee, H.T.Venktesh,40 died of road accident yesterday night. An autoriksha banged against Venktesh who was walking near press club here. Police are looking for the auto driver who escaped from the scene. DIES FROM ACCIDENTAL GUNSHOT;A planter, Kushalappa, 55 died at Valnoor yesterday due to gunshot. The family members stated to police that a gun he was holding opened accidentally. The incident occurred as he was inside the forest and he went for poaching. Meanwhile, a section of his family suspects it to be murder and a complaint was lodged in this regard. Police are investigating. ZP MEET ENDS IN RUCKUS;Hell broke loose in Zilla Panchayath meeting yesterday as the Deputy secretary Mr.Mahadevaiah tried to play caste card in the meeting, like he did in the last meeting. Members urged the chairperson Mrs.Chitra Ramesh to send out Mr.Mahadevaiah who had threatened to file atrocity case against them, if they question about his style of functioning in the last meeting. They had earlier passed a resolution to urge the government to transfer him from this place and threatened to boycott the meeting if he ateends it. Since this was the third meeting, which leads to legal complication if they fail to attend it, all of them were present. Mr.Mahadevaiah allegedly shifted an Sc St hostel to some place without bringing it to the notice of neither members nor president. These added fuels to attack him in the last meeting as he refused give an explanation. Instead he had cautioned the members that he belongs to Kollegal, the place of Veerappan and also he belongs to backward class and let they be careful before throwing allegations. |
