Rs.6 CRORE APPROVED FOR HUNSUR HIGHWAY;MLA Mr.Basavaraju has said that the government has given technical nod for the Tolpatti-Hunsur highway at a cost of rupees six crores. Addressing scribes here, he said that the government in spite of its inefficiency, due to his efforts has approved the plan and roads from South Kodagu would be developed shortly. Mr.Basavaraju also disclosed that model colonies would be formed at Thithimathi and Kothur Bommadu village at a cost of rupees eighty lakhs and the government has given a go. He announced that he has successfully released enough funds for the development of South Kodagu through his efforts in eight months as an MLA. PICKETING AGAINST MINING;Former MLA Mr.Appachu Ranjan has said that the BJP will picket offices of the Deputy Commissioner and DFO if they fail to curb mining activities in Tolur Shettalli area. He has given an ultimatum of ten days to the officials. Addressing scribes at Sopmwarpet he said that illegal mining is going on in Somwarpet taluk, unabatedly directly under the nose of officials. LOTTERY LOVER LATHICHARGED;Somwarpet police yesterday took to canes as lottery addicts created ruckus by blocking passages, standing in front of a canteen to watch the result. Acting on repeated complaints, Somwarpet police lathicharged the crowd causing nuisance and warned them of legal action. The Mandal Panchayath here has banned the sale of single and two digit lotteries, which is still going on in the town. Meanwhile, police also raided sports clubs indulging in gambling activity in the town. |
