CONGRESS PLANS RASTA ROKHO!The Napoklu Block Congress party has threatened the authorities to hold Rasta Rokho from February eleventh. The Block congress president mister Monnappa has alleged that the party is forced to give an ultimatum as the residents of a cluster of villages are revolting against the apathetic view of officials and government in undertaking developmental works. People are complaining that Napoklu, Karada, Kadangamarur,Cheyyandane and other villages are totally neglected. They allege that works undertaken by PWD and Zilla Panchayath are of substandard and the projects like drinking water facility have proved futile. People are suffering from acute shortage of drinking water and bad roads, they have stated in a joint statement signed with the Congress. Memorandums in this regard are submitted to Deputy Commissioner and the Government. 19 ARRESTED ON CONVERTION CHARGE;A group of fifteen persons attempting to forceful conversion of Hindus to Christianity are arrested by Kushalnagar police. The group led by one Ibezin, hailing from Kanyakumari in a mini bus tried to distribute articles condemning other communities at Virupakshpur near Kushalnagar. A group of youngsters from Kushalnagar questioned the intention of the group. The enraged intruders including women threw chilly powder on the faces of youngsters and assaulted them. Tension broke yesterday as police refused to register a case. As mobs gathered before the police station, police went and arrested fifteen persons in this connection and sent them to judicial custody. The mini bus was also seized. The youngsters alleged that the conversion group belongs to Benny Hin wing. EFFIGY OF BENNY HIN BURNT;The effigy of Benny Hin was burnt today at Somwarpet by Hindu organizations. The organizers urged the government to cancel Benny show at Bangalore and arrest him on charges of conversion. A procession was taken out and slogans were shouted against the government. WEATHER IN MADIKERI;The level of mercury is dipping down at Madikeri to 6 degree centigrade. The average temperature in Kodagu since December was eight. The temperature recorded at the University of Agriculture, here shows 6.2 degree on this fifteenth. Picture; The chilly weather wont let Sun rays down till 9.30 - 10 in the morning. |
