RENOVATION OF IRPU TEMPLE BEGINS;

Sri Rameshwara temple of Irpu, near Srimangala known as Kashi of South is being renovated at a cost of rupees fifty lakhs.

The Deputy Commissioner Mr.Srikanth walgadh performed Bhumi Pooja and assured the committee members that funds would be released through Mujarai department. A committee comprising members from fourteen villages was formed to give a facelift to the ancient temple. Mr.Srikanth Walgadh said that the Irpu falls situated in the temple land is a tourist destination and it would be Properly developed through tourism department. He also disclosed that two National Highways would pass through South Kodagu and the technical approval for the project would be received by March next.

FARMER JUMPS TO FIRE;

Disgusted in life with the burden of loan, a farmer yesterday committed suicide by jumping into fire he lit.

Ranji Muthappa, 40, of Harihar village lit fire into paddy storage place and jumped into it, according to police. They stated that his desperate action came after the local Agriculture Bank issued notice to auction his property. Deceased also owes money to many others and committed suicide when his wife and children were away. The incident came to light only yesterday after the return of his wife. The crime was committed two days ago, the police suspect.
