ENGLAND CRICKETERS COACH KODAGU BOYS;Former captain of England Women’s’ cricket team Jane Powell and coach John Brairly conducted a four day training camp for Kodagu lads and coaches at Pollibetta , TATA grounds. Interviewed by this reporter, Ms.Powell stated that Indian boys are more flexible in physique and shorter, which pushes them ahead of England lads. She said that the cricket interest in India is phenomenal. The culture and the weather will also make them better players, she opined. Ms.Powel was the National captain of under 18 Badminton, national hockey player in her 23s and Cricket captain between 88 and 99. Former National Coach Mr.John Brarely had accompanied Powell in the training along with Ranji player and coach Mr.Sanath Kumar. He stated that the boys in India are far in front of England and they can rise to a height with proper coaching,and by adopting techniques. Lord Taverners Charitable Trust, London, sponsored the duo from England. The Karnataka Cricket Association and Kodagu Cricket associations organized the four-day camp, ending yesterday. Around 43 players and nine coaches underwent training. The training is a part of eight-week programme. The team will train cricketers in South India during this period. They have already attended camps at Mysore and Bangalore. Camps will also be held at mangalore and Hubli. Chairman of the CCA Mr.Kumar Appachu and secretary Mr.Arun Chengappa opined that the Indian cricket has many technical details to learn from England players. |
