RELIEF FUND HANDED OVER;Shakthi, the first and largest circulated Kannada daily of Kodagu handed over a DD for rupees 2.14 lakhs to the Deputy Commissioner In charge, Mr.Subrahmanyam towards Tsunami relief. Editor G.Rajendra handed over the amount drawn on Prime Ministers National Relief Fund account during the newspapers 48th anniversary celebration. “E Naadu”, a Kannada book containing 14 short stories, authored by Mrs.Asha Hegde of Bangalore was released on the occasion by a known author and literary person Edurkala K.Shankaranarayana Bhat. He stated that short stories are capable of boosting the depressed minds hand in hand with entertainment. B.G.Anantha Shayana compered the programme. BEO Mr.Sridhar spoke about the book. The transferred CEO Mr.Budhihal inaugurated the function. RS.7.8 CRORE FOR BRIDGES;The government has sanctioned rupees 7.8 crores to rebuild four bridges in the District. According to a government source, the state had spent rupees 110 crores on 147 bridges in Karnataka during last fiscal and would take up more bridges in the present year in the second phase. And four bridges of Kodagu are also included and approved in this scheme. Rs.5.8 crore is approved for Nellihudikeri bridge and rupees seventy lakh for a bridge on Hunsur Kodagu road. Rs. 80 lakh is approved for a bridge at Napoklu and a bridge at Napoklu Bhagamandala road will get rupees 50 lakh, according to sources.
