WATER SOLD AT RS.150 PER HOUR!

There is a huge water tank built by the Zilla Panchayath at Konanakatte in South Kodagu.

The administration planned to provide irrigation water to around 2000 acres. Money has been pouring under different schemes since 1972.

But the agriculturists are hardly helped through this project as few individuals raised objection, legally. The administration did little to solve this problem. Today, the middlemen are busy lifting water from this tank by using generators. They sell it to the needy at rupees 150/= per hour!

The agriculturists living around complain that despite the fact that money is being released each year from the ZP, the water canals yet await completion. Even the tank built by spending lakhs of rupees is in ruins. They have demanded immediate action since people are removing boulders from the tank for their personal use, or that can even be sold like water!
