HE KISSED, COBRA HISSED, HE IS HOSPITALISED!A person under the influence of alcohol held a live cobra in hand and kissed it. It hissed, inspite of the warning he tried to re kiss it only to be bitten by it! The bizarre incident occurred at Siddapur on the night of Shivaratri. A cobra entered the house of a Gram Panchayath member Mr.Manjunath. Hell broke loose. It did not budge for a special pooja or a cup of milk. It quietly circled itself comfortably beneath a cot. And the search was on for someone who could chase the reptile away. They bumped against one Mani who has name to capture reptiles. He agreed, Went to a Bar before coming to the spot. While the crowd assembled in the house was shivering, Mani with ease pulled the cobra from beneath and exhibited it before the crowd. He kissed the reptile, which opened its hood in splendor, hissed and bit him. Mani fell on the floor while the cobra slipped away from the door. He was immediately shifted to the hospital and is now recovering. COFFEE RATE BOOSTS ENTHUSIASM;The lost smile on the faces of the coffee growers are slowly returning as the rate in international market shows hike. According to sources there is a rise of 6% rate for coffee in the IM. While Arabica Parchment fetches rupees 4700/=, Arabica Cherry gets rupees 2600/=. While Robusta cherry is getting 1225/=, robusta parchment is fetching rupees 2800/=. Yet the rates depend on quality. The coffee market is improving since to working class in IT sector and other companies buy to the scientific findings that caffeine present in coffee boosts energy and also stops falling of hair. Added to this coffee producing countries like Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia are shifting their interest on Intercrops, resulting in reduced production, the sources said. CMC PRESENTS BUDGET; EXPECTS 10.32 CRORE INCOME;The City Municipal Council yesterday presented the budget for 2005 – 06 and is hopeful of fetching 10.32 crore income. The administrator and incharge Deputy Commissioner Mr.P.Subramanyam under a pandemonious situation presented the budget as the members raised objection, as the administrator did not call a pre budget meeting. However the budget was approved after a marathon discussion and protests. The members agreed to call a special meeting to address drinking water and other problems. |
