MINISTER CAUTIONS OFFICIALS;The district in charge minister Mr.Srinivas yesterday lambasted the district officials and threatened to act firmly against the erring ones. Presiding over the Karnataka Development Programme Review meet at old assembly hall, the minister sent out taluka level officials and directed the DC to initiate action against the district level officials who were absent at the meeting. He went wild against the officials delivering irresponsible answers and gave an ultimatum of one month to streamline their works and show progress in their respective department. The minister appealed to the people’s representatives and officials to work sincerely for the development and implement the projects and programmes of the government to build a better society. MLAs Mr.B.A.Jivijaya,Mr.K.G.Bopaiah and MLC Mr.Arun Machaiah complained that the funds released from the center for implementing many projects and flood relief are not utilized by the state and urged immediate action. The minister assured to look into the matter and said that he will also address the various problems of coffee, right over the tree etc. ZP president Mrs.Chitra Ramesh, VP Mr.Papu Sannaiah, DC in charge Mr.P.Subramanyam, and CEO Mr.Sundar Naik was present on the dais. CREATIVITY THE HALL MARK OF SUCCESS; S.L.BYRAPPA;Known writer Dr.S.L.Byrappa has said that a literature produced out of creativity lives longer. Delivering K.T.Subba Rao memorial lecture here yesterday, Mr.Byrappa stated that a original thinking produced out of experience has its own place in the sphere of literature and called upon the budding writers not to start writing with pre conceived ideas and force it on readers. He opined that terrorism is present even in the sphere of thinking and said that these radical thinkers are harming the field. He also advised the writers that they should write to satisfy their minds and not to go after awards. Inaugurating the function, scholar Mr.Pradhan Gurudath stated that the kannada literature is suffering due to government apathy and valueable works. He regretted that those who are not scholars or writers hold top posts in the literary fields. Mr.Baby Mathew,advocate Mr.K.P.Balasubrahmanyam and Mr.T.P.Ramesh were present on the dais. BIDDANDA FAMILY SET TO HOST FAMILY TOURNMENT;The Biddanda family is all set to host this years family hockey at Madikeri in a unique way. A communiqué from Major.B.A.Nanjappa states that the FMKMC college grounds at Madikeri has been got ready at a cost of rupees 2.8 lakhs and the standard of which is parrellel to the level of international hockey fields. While 2000 spectators can watch hockey from the galleries to be built, facilities were made to park around 1000 cars. Stalls and food caterings have been awarded, says the communiqué. The family has plans to hold spectacular event for the inauguration on 15th of April. It also plans to commemorate the family hockey festival 200 by releasing a facsimile of the famous Coorg medal issued initially in 1839 by British soldiers from Kodagu for acts of valour. |
