MIXED REACTION FOR THE BUDGET

The Kodagu representatives gave mixed opinion about the yesterday’s state budget presented by the State Finance Minister Mr. Siddaramaiah. Mr. K.G.Bopaiah, the Madikeri M.L.A called it as the bogus assurances and the cheating by the Govt. He criticized the missing of special packages to Kodagu and the negligence of Tourism development. He recalled the reservation of Rs. One crore by the previous Govt. for the establishment of Sainik School In kodagu which is missing in the present Budget. He also dissatisfied for just providing a one time payment for getting exemption of interest on loans. He analyzed the usage of this facility by the influential persons who will be obliged by the cooperative institutions for mere Book adjustments and ultimately the small coffee growers will not be benefited. Mr. Bopaiah opined the reservation of funds for the Kavery river Irrigation schemes is negligible and he is quiet happy with the announcement of Rs. 50 lakh each for the M.L.A’s and he showed his curiosity by saying it will be fulfilled only after the amount is released practically! .Mr. H.D.Basvaraju, the Virajpet M.L.A has also gave the same opinion .He also said the Govt, has neglected Kodagu in providing fund for the MiNi Vidhana Soudha.

Mr. B.A.Jeevijaya the Somwarpet M.L.A and the M.L.C Mr. Arun Machaia have welcomed the budget. Relief to coffee growers, Software Park to Kodagu, M.L.A’s grants and the preference for agricultural sector are the important and eye catching schemes according to these representatives.

Mr.B.A.Hasanabba welcomed the relief to coffee growers , but he showed his dissatisfaction over the criticism of the Central Budget by the State finance minister in some points while presenting the state budget. He hoped the establishment of full fledged congress Govt. in future under the leadership of Mr. Dharma Singh.

According to a reliable sources for the “The Times of India” , the Coffee growers will get relief only up to the limitation of Rs. 39 crores in the state which was already announced by the previous Govt. and not more than this limitation.
