STUDENTS FALL ILL;67 students of a government residential school at Basavanahalli near Kushalnagar fell ill, after consuming food. The school authorities said that the students of Morarji residential school complained of severe stomach pain, vomiting and purging immediately after consuming food on the night of 13th. Though the matter was ignore on the night, all the students became week yesterday after the breakfast. They are all shifted to different hospitals in the district. The students ate Uppuma and boiled egg on the fateful night. District health officials and other concerned officials visited the school and collected information. Parents of the students are shell shocked, as some of the students under treatment are still serious. The residents of Basavanahalli complain that the school was neglected by district administration and elected representatives. The school lacks Drinking water and other basic facilities, which is telling on the future of resident students. WATER SHORTAGE HITS TOWN;Madikeri, surrounded by rivers and streams is facing severe drinking water shortage. The City Municipal Council has said that it will be able to supply water only once in two days in the town. But already there are sections where water is being supplied once in three or four days, according to residents. They have regretted that the politicians and peoples representatives take media mileage by issuing statements and falsely keep stating each year the lakhs and lakhs of rupees is being released for drinking water project, all in vain. The CMC has appealed to the residents to bear the incovenience. |
