BJP SNATCHES COFFEE SOCIETY FROM CONGRESS;In a closely fought election for the board of Kodagu coffee growers co operative society here, BJP registered supremacy by winning all the 13 seats. Congress candidates, including a brother and a sister of former district in charge minister Mrs.Suma Vasanth experienced a humbling defeat along with the former president Mr.M.K.Nanjappa. BJP MLA Mr.K.G.Bopaiah talking to reporters after the election said that the new team would try to rid the society of its debt. The society, one of the best in Asia has suffered continues set backs and financial fall down since a decade. The newly elected members have hinted that Mr.M.B.Devaiah and Mr.Subramani might hold the posts of president and vice president respectively. BARAPOLE INTERACTION WILL TAKE PLACE;President of the taluk Raitha Sanga, Mr.Kechettira Harish has said that the Barapole interaction meet will go on as per the schedule, inspite of the threatenings from other organisations. Reacting to the press statements by Cauvery sene and Barapole horata Samithi president Mr.Poonacha, Harish said that oppositions are being raised as a blackmail tactics. TUSKER DIES OF ATTACK;A tusker died near tribal colony at Madalapur yesterday attacked by a herd. The tribals stated that a herd of elephants violently attacked the lone tusker which might have tress passed into their territory the day before yesterday. As the wounded elephant was trumpeting in pain, the veterinary doctors were called into forest. However, by the time the doctors could come the tuskar died due to deep wounds all over the body. TWO DROWNED;Two persons were drowned to deah on two seperate incidents in the district yesterday. According to sources, an estate labourer Akkuna slipped into a lake inside the estate by accident and died. The incident took place at Kibbetta. In another incident, one Mr.Mandanna fell into a lake while taking bath and died. |
